Dear Colleague,
With apologies for cross-posting, on behalf of project leaders Fabrice Arduin, Annabelle Ollivier and members of the ESA Sea State Climate Change Initiative (CCI) consortium, I cordially invite you to the 3rd Sea State CCI User Consultation, Science and Applications Meeting, to be hosted on 01/02 October 2025 at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), Southampton U.K.
As with previous User Consultation Meetings, the objective is to bring together both researchers and industry professionals with an interest in the development and application of sea state datasets from satellite remote sensing, in order to present and discuss recent progress on observations and their aggregation into a sea state Climate Data Record, with a particular focus on Sea State CCI activities and data. This meeting helps guide us in specifying and further developing high quality long term datasets for sea state essential climate variables (ECV) and wave climate applications. Regardless of your interest—scientific, engineering, industrial, community planning or financial services—if you have an interest in CCI datasets, or related satellite remote sensing data of waves, we would be delighted to hear from you!
The meeting, sponsored by ESA, is offered free of registration charge with lunches provided. Remote attendance will be possible, although in-person attendance and presentation will be prioritized. Note also that space is limited to ~100 participants on site. Of course, early expression of interest is welcome to assist with planning.
We will announce abstract submission and registration in the coming weeks, but more information about the meeting can be found at the meeting website, here:
https://projects.noc.ac.uk/seastatecci/
The 2nd phase of the State CCI project is currently underway, further developing and delivering quality controlled and calibrated global sea state data, and in the next data release, in the coming weeks, we expect to provide updates to the long term altimetry and Sentinel-1 SAR multivariate wave datasets. Please look out for announcements or enquire with me directly. More information on Sea State CCI datasets, along with available datasets, can be found at the ESA project home page:
I do hope many of you can attend, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
Ben
