Posting on behalf of a colleague, please see below for a postdoc opportunity related to ocean waves.
The Physical Oceanography in Multiple Scales (POMS) lab, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, is recruiting graduate students and postdocs for several new positions.
POMS lab studies physical oceanography and climate in multiple scales, from micro turbulence to the general overturning circulation. We place a special emphasis on cross-scale and air-sea interactions and their consequences.
We are looking to recruit driven graduate students and postdocs keen on advancing research in the fields of ocean and climate dynamics, with strong backgrounds in geophysical fluid dynamics, climate science, physics, engineering, and applied math.
Graduate and postdoc positions in new projects are available, including on the following topics (M=modeling-based, O=observations-based):
• Air-sea interaction in the continental margin transition zone, including sea-breeze interaction with ocean circulation. M/O
• Submesoscale circulation interaction with fine and micro scale turbulence. O(+M)
• Dynamics of the overturning circulation of the East Mediterranean Sea. M(+O)
• Fundamental processes of the global overturning circulation. M.
Most of these positions are funded as part of a multi-institutional project, with great opportunities for interaction with a large and varied group of climate scientists. **Opportunities for 50/50 position in US-Israel are available through Zuckerman Fellowship: Postdoc Program | Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program **
Internal deadlines for submission: 10 February 2025 (In advance of the Zuckerman deadline on 15 February 2025 ). 25 February 2025 (In advance of the Zuckerman deadline on 31 March 2025).
